The movie has received one of the highestnominations for the 3rd annual Golden Icons Academic Awards,GIAMA, scheduled for October 25, to be hosted by Julius Agwu in Houston, Texas U.S.A.
The movie producer and comedian, in a statement expressed satisfaction that the efforts put intomaking the movie paid off.
AY said: “I am sohappy that the sleepless nights and days of shooting the movie inNigeria and Atlanta is beginning to pay off.This is affirmation to the efforts put into the production of themovie and to celebrate the great team that worked with me on theproject.”
The theatre arts graduate said: “The main idea was to recreate the Akpos character on The AY Show’s `Who Wants to Be a Billionaire Segment’.
“It was also to establish the AY brand as an actor and a producer inthe movie industry, The movie is comedy genre andchronicles the hilarious adventures of two cousins from Nigeria whoare given a 30-day holiday package to Atlanta.
The nominations include Best Film (indigenous), Best Film (comedy), Best-On-Screen-Duo, Best Actor, Best Comedic Act, BestScreenplay and Best Director.Others are, Producer of The Year, Best Cinematography and aSpecial Recognition awards for Whitfield’s role in the movie.
The movie features AY, Ramsey Noah, Mercy Johnson, RMD, Desmond Elliot, Majid Michel, Juliet Ibrahim, Ada Ameh, RachelOniga and KesseJabari.
GIAMA annual awards described by those in the movie industry asthe Africa Oscars, is designed to celebrate the very best of Africanentertainment and rich culture through Filmography.
The film narrates the story of a young man who wins a 30-day holiday for two to Atlanta, Georgia. He takes his cousin (Richard), an IT specialist on the all-expense paid trip. It’s an adventurous love story – spiced with lots of action and hilarious moments.”
