VSF commences Rebuilding of Public Infrastructure in Yobe

On Saturday, the 20th of May 2017, the Victims Support Fund (VSF) in Buni Yadi, Yobe State flagged-off the reconstruction of public infrastructure destroyed by insurgents in the state. Speaking at the occasion, Prof. Sunday Ochoche, Executive Director, VSF, disclosed that the reconstruction programme would cost N170 million and that its completion would hasten the resettlement of people in areas devastated by insurgency. Some of the structures to be reconstructed include the General Hospital, Gujba Local Government Council Secretariat, Maternal and Child Health Centers, 11 blocks of classrooms and Fire Service Stations in Buni-Yadi town, among others. VSF will also provide farm inputs to returnee communities to improve farming activities, economically empower women, and float foster care projects in the affected communities. Flagging off the reconstruction programme, Alhaji Tijjani Tumsah, Vice Chairman of the Fund, said the exercise would fast-track the return of civil authority and socioeconomic activities in the areas affected. Tumsah said that the VSF is prepared to partner with state governments in restoring normalcy to devastated communities. The Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, represented by Alhaji Bukar Dauda, Commissioner for Land and Housing, commended the Fund for the gesture, and solicited for further assistance. He listed the areas of need to include food, agriculture input, credit facilities and building materials.
