The Victims Support Fund (VSF) on Thursday distributed relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Naka, the headquarters of Gwer-West LGA of Benue State.
Our correspondent reports that the items distributed included 3,000 bags of garri, rice and beans; 1,000 bottles of palm oil, 1,000 bottles of vegetable oil, 1,000 sachets of salt, 1,000 packets of Maggi, sugar and hygiene kits to 1,000 households which had an average of between seven and 10 individuals.
The Chairperson of VSF’s Emergency Support Programme in Benue State, Barr Toyosi Akerele Ogunsinyi, said it was their third time to visit Naka with relief materials, noting that in order to ensure balanced diet for the beneficiaries, VSF would replace soybean with cowpea and maize with garri next month.
Ogunsinyi disclosed that VSF was implementing the programme in eight communities in seven LGAs of Gwer-West, Logo, Kwande, Ado, Konshisha, Guma and Oju.
