This was disclosed by the Project Coordinator Fistula Foundation Nigeria Malam Musa Isa at a meeting of the foundation representatives of some NGOs on fistula, saying the meeting was aimed at forming a national network for the Elimination of Obstetric Fistula steering committee.

According to the coordinator, fistula cases were more prevalent in the north, saying that was why Kano State had the best repair centre for fistula cases. “It is time for us to know that anybody can be a victim of fistula case and therefore, the sooner we tackle it the better for us. The north has more prevalent cases of fistula and this is why the fistula research and entrepreneur centre will be established,” he said.

At the meeting the national network for the elimination of obstetric fistula steering committee was formed drawing members from the different NGOs that deal with fistula cases.

The NGOs present at the meetings are Fistula Foundation Nigeria (FFN), Women Development Initiative (WDI), Ikon Allah Development Initiative, Murna Foundation Katsina and Global Grassroots Initiative (GGI).
