This will include the challenges of governance, peace and security, migration and relations between West Africa and other groupings in the world. This is contained in a resolution passed at the end of the 4th conference of the Speakers of West African Parliaments, where they pledged to unite as a body to achieve the objectives defined in their charter.
CSWAP however reaffirmed that regional integration meets the vital needs of the people of West Africa, who having lived in perfect harmony since time immemorial now want to strengthen their bonds of fraternity and solidarity and pool their efforts for the economic and social development of the sub region.
They noted that parliaments are the democratic expression of the will of the people and can play a role in achieving the fundamental goals and objectives of the community. They therefore urged respective parliaments to do everything possible to ensure that the structures and organs provided for in the Charter are operational.
Also in a communiqué issued at the end of the conference, while welcoming  the progress recorded in the sub-region at the political and security level regarding the recent presidential elections in Mali and reinstatement of democracy in the country, the Speakers reiterated their commitment and will to join hands to fight terrorism and deal with vectors of instability with a view to consolidating peace and accelerating integration in the region.
