This call was contained in a statement issued in Kano and signed by WACOT and TGI Group head of Corporate Responsibility Support (CRS) initiative in Nigeria, Mr Anuuj Bhatia.
According to stamen, the company aimed to help farmers to engage in commercial agriculture through its various programmes and interventions which included health awareness camp, farmers self help group formation, capacity building for women and farmers empowerment.
The statement added that the formation of famers’ self-help group will make farmers work in small groups and learn good agricultural practices and business skills.
The statement said that the first health awareness camp was conducted in Argungu Local Government Area in Kebbi State where 150 people benefited from free treatment, adding that the company has established 13 health awareness camps in Katsina State and would do so in other states soon.
The statement said the company has received commendation from the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu-Merafor empowering farmers through its different integrated community support programmes.
He said the emir promised to liaise with the government to ensure success of the programme.
