Senator representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Ahmed Aliyu Wadada has charged resident of the state to set aside ethno-religious sentiments and elect leaders based on competence.

The governorship aspirant made the statement following the conclusion of the third and final leg of his consultative tour across Nasarawa North Senatorial District.

Wadada also used the opportunity to present his legislative scorecard and his “HEARTS Agenda” to citizens from the 11 electoral wards in Akwanga Local Government Area.

Wadada who has been endorsed by the state Governor Abdulahi Sule assured the gathering that if elected governor, he would not only sustain but upscale the developmental strides recorded by the incumbent Governor.

In a statement made available to journalists on Sunday, Wadada who had earlier paid homage to the Chun Mada, HRH Samson Gamu Yare, at his palace stated that Governor Sule, who has endorsed him as his preferred successor, was symbolically handing over “gold, silver, and diamond” to him on behalf of the Akwanga Zone, making it imperative for him to reciprocate by delivering equitable development to all zones of the state.

Stressing the need for unity and peaceful coexistence ahead of the 2027 general elections, Wadada urged the people to set aside ethno-religious sentiments and elect leaders based on competence.

He warned that electing individuals with no capacity to legislative offices would leave the zone disadvantaged, resulting in having a “bench warmer” as their representative.

The lawmaker also expressed strong backing for Governor Sule’s ambition to represent the zone in the Senate, describing the outgoing governor as a servant-leader who has kept faith with the people.
