A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State has urged the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Prince Uche Secondus to resolve the crisis rocking the Katsina State chapter of the party to save it from “imminent” collapse.
A member of the PDP ‘A GYARA’ faction in the state, Alhaji Lawal Rufai Safana, at a press conference on Friday in Katsina, said the NWC should constitute a “credible and neutral” caretaker committee to run the affairs of the party.
Alhaji Safana suggested that the caretaker committee should be given a timeline within which to conduct ward, local government and state congresses for authentic officers who would prepare grounds for the party’s victory in 2023 to emerge.
He said there were six pending cases in court against the party over the conduct of congresses in the state, adding that if not well managed, the situation would jeopardise the party’s chances of winning future elections in the state.
