It is obvious that his type sees their people as ignorant of happenings around them, but it is suicidal for any politician to underestimate the level of political awareness of the electorate.

We acknowledge the fact that he has been providing cash gifts for some persons in his constituency. We acknowledge that he is not in the executive arm of government, so he cannot execute capital-intensive projects. But he can use his position to influence federal projects to his senatorial district.

We know he has access to some multinational companies who should, as part of their social responsibility,  be executing some projects in our communities. Some of these companies should be building schools, hospitals, or provide boreholes for the people in his senatorial district. However, we are not enjoying such things. This is what we know other senators are doing for their people. We know the he is very close to the Israeli construction firm Societal Construction Company (Nigeria) Limited (SCC).

With less than a year to go, his performance as a senator is definitely a far cry from our expectations. He should remember that Bauchi North Senatorial Zone boasts of a number of competent and committed personalities who can give their people the true dividends of democracy they desire and very well take them to the Promised Land.

While his colleague, Senator Bala Muhammad, the present Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, boasts of very important and people-oriented projects like schools and clinics, which execution he either influenced or is directly responsible for building, Senator Nazif, in comparison, has nothing to show.

I would like Governor Isa Yuguda, his political associate, to encourage the senator to change his ways, else, the people of Bauchi North Senatorial District would consider them as being in league and could vote against the governor’s bid for re-election.
