The six-storey building on Victoria Island, was built by the Chairman of Bi-Courtney Group Wale Babalakin to serve as the association’s secretariat and source of revenue.
The structure, which can be accessed through the premises of the Nigerian Law School and the Council of Legal Education, was built on a partnership of Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) with Visioni Stabilini Ltd.
Wali commended Babalakin’s industry in delivering on the project and the power of partnership between the Nigerian Bar Association and the Council of Legal Education.
He thanked his predecessors in office, the immediate past director general of NLS, Dr. Mamman Tahir, and the CLE Chairman, O.C.J. Okocha (SAN), for their cooperation which ensured the realisation of the project.
He said the building is befitting of the NBA, which he described as the largest professional association not only in Nigeria but also in Africa and south of the Sahara.
“With a database of over 90, 000 lawyers, 109 branches spread across the 36 states and the FCT, Abuja, the NBA deserves a magnificent edifice of this size.
“This new building is the second phase of the construction of NBA House in Lagos. The first phase of the NBA House is the building that is currently being occupied by Diamond Bank Plc, which is also within the same vicinity,” he said.
