He said he will do this with an open door policy to achieve the aspirations of the federal and state governments on the basis of the transformation agenda of the government.
Ambassador Wali made the pledge yesterday during his maiden meeting with the members of the diplomatic corps in Nigeria.
“As the new Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it is not my intention to change the direction and content of Nigeria’s foreign policy which has stood the test of time,” he said.
Rather he said he intends to recreate a new era of Nigeria’s foreign policy by sharpening its focus on what will best serve the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians in her engagements with the outside world.
“It is my intention to build on existing relations and to promote new partnerships and collaborative initiatives, centered on issues that are germane to Nigeria’s national interest.  In doing this, I intend to explore new vistas of cooperation and partnership that will make Nigeria’s foreign policy more relevant to the development goals,” he said.
The minister noted that the success of the blue-print requires closer cooperation with various countries, the envoys as well as collaboration and synergy with Ministries, Agencies and Departments of Government at all levels in Nigeria.
