Wambai market upgrade reaches 70% completion

The ongoing upgrade work of the popular Wambai market embarked upon by the Kan state government has reached 70 per cent of completion, the Vice Chairman of the Market, Alhaji Auwalu Muhammad Daku has said.

Daku also expressed satisfaction on the quality of work so far done, noting that the project was one of the best gestures ever done to the market by the government.

He assured that when completed, the project would lift the status of the market to become among the highest revenue generating markets in the state.

The vice chairman also reaffirmed the market’s condemnation on the recent attack of a female journalist by some miscreants in the market.

He added that the leadership of the market had received the news of the attack with shock and therefore condemned it.

“The attack was just an act of some miscreants and the leadership has strongly distanced itself from it. We have already apologised to all the parties concerned,” Daku said.
