A watchman with a magistrates’ court in Birnin-Kudu area of Jigawa State has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old boy in the court’s premises.

The state Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mohammad Durumin-Iya, said the suspect, one Yusuf Adamu, a father of nine, was arrested while taking advantage of the boy in the premises of a magistrates’ court, where he works as watchman.

He said the command received several reports from residents of Zango Quarters in Birnin Kudu on alleged abuse of some Almajiri boys by the suspect who was said to have been using money to lure his victims.

He said the suspect had since confessed to the crime and would soon be arraigned.

Fielding questions from our reporter, the suspect who confessed to the crime, said it was the devil’s work as homosexuality was not in his character, although, he said he had anal sex with his victim on four occasions before his arrest.

“It is not in my character, I have a wife and nine children, five boys and four girls. It was devil’s work. I have never had such with any other person apart from this boy.”

On whether he had tried such on any of his male children; the the suspect said he had never attempted any of his sons.

Also speaking to this reporter, the victim (name withheld) said, the suspect gave him N100 on each of the first three occasions while he was given N200 during the last encounter.
