Former president of NIA and chairman of Archibuilt Development Services Limited (ADSL), Arc. Mohammed Faworaja, who noted that the country had enormous resources to locally develop enough materials for building sector, noted that most of the building materials were imported into the country.
He explained that although some building materials are locally sourced but they were not enough to cater for the demand of the sector, thereby, contributing to the housing deficit faced by Nigerians.
Faworaja said this during a press conference on the 25th Archibuilt, an annual exhibition organized by NIA in Abuja where he noted that material development at the local level would boost government’s effort on housing for all programme.
“We have not addressed the issue of material development for the building industry in Nigeria. We have enough resources to develop locally, that is why we must take the issue of research very seriously.”
