Members of the People Democrats Party (PDP) have denied a rumour claiming that the party structure has collapsed into the African Democratic Party (ADC).
This was disclosed by Director Lawan Munkaila, the Yobe State Coordinator of the PDP Support Groups while addressing newsmen in Damaturu.
Daily Trust reports that Waziri who has been a two time governorship candidate of the PDP and its leader in Yobe has recently joined ADC.
But, speaking on behalf of PDP Support Groups Munkaila, said no official executive of the PDP from ward to state level that has left the party.
“The only people leaving are few frustrated and self-centered individuals who were never truly royal to the PDP.
“One of them is Adamu Maina Waziri, a man who has enjoyed every blessing and opportunity from the party that gave him the platform to become Minister of Police Affairs, twice gubernatorial candidate Senatorial candidate and many other privileges.
“Instead of remaining loyal and contributing to the progress of the party that made him politically relevant, he chose to engage in anti-party activities and when exposed, he jumped to the ADC a party that has no grassroots acceptance in Yobe.
“Waziri’s defection does not shake the PDP in any way. In fact, it is a belief. The PDP is now cleaner, more united and more focused without elements of betrayal within.
“The PDP in Yobe State is not dead nor divided or weakened. Rather, it remains the most organized, experience and people-oriented political platform in the State” he said.
He urged the general public to disregard the falsehoods information being circulated that the entire Yobe PDP structure moves to ADC, leaving only PDP national chairman, Amb Damagum, in the party.
