Olasunkanmi John kolawole, speaker of the West Africa Youth Parliament (WAYP), has said the parliament was created to unite and empower parliamentary youth organizations across West Africa.

He said this in a statement personally signed by him in lieu of the just concluded international day celebration summit programme held in Abuja recently.

During the event organized by WAYP, the parliament unanimously conferred an Ambassadorial recognition on Dr. Matthew Moses, Founder of Dr. Matt Foundation.

“As the West Africa Youth Ambassador, Moses has demonstrated unwavering dedication, fairness, and accountability in his service to humanity. His tireless efforts have positively impacted countless lives, inspiring a new generation of leaders,” the statement said.

Kolawole said WAYP had made significant strides in building legislative and leadership capacity, promoting parliamentary procedures, ethics, and values among young Africans.

While acknowledging the role young people should play in shaping the future, he said: “We must continue to support and uplift individuals, providing opportunities for growth, development, and meaningful engagement and too continue to appreciate people that have a record of outstanding contributions to the development of critical areas of needs for Youth.”
