The leadership of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, a spiritual movement with headquarters in Calabar has said they are the second largest employer of labour after the state government.

Spokesman of the organisation, Christ Ambassador Edet Archibong, said that followed the establishment of an array of blue chip firms, factories, banks, schools, orphanages, media firms and its plan to register a football club soon.

He disclosed this at the headquarters of the organisation when he briefed the press about the one-week activities lined up for the celebration of a religious event tagged ‘Heavenly Father’.

“We have established many investments including bank and multi- million Naira rubber processing factory. We have large plantations, television, radio and newspaper outfits, bakery, group of schools, orphanages etc., scholarship foundations, real estate.  These employ thousands of Nigerians. These firms have helped tremendously to reduce unemployment in the country,” he said.

Archibong said the firms are established in a sustainable manner – to outlive many generations – and called on wealthy individuals, corporate firms, churches and organisations to also support the federal government in that direction.
