The Swiss advanced into the historic final in their maiden appearance in the championship at the expense of the Colombians whom they walloped by four un-replied goals in the first semifinal game played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos on Thursday.

Speaking with Trustsports, the Swiss players affirmed that playing Nigeria in the final would not stop them from lifting the trophy at the end of the encounter in Abuja. They added that  it would be a difficult game to play having enjoyed the support of the Nigerians fans since the championship kicked-off.

Captain of the team, Frederic Veseli said he realized the difficulty that would be involved in playing against the Nigerian team being the host in the final, but expressed optimism that they would win the trophy at the expense of the host.

Furthermore, Veseli who will be watching the final from bench as a result of the red card he received in their quarterfinal game against Italy at Gateway International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode last Sunday hinted that he is relying on the confidence of other players who can do the havoc at the Nigeria end.

In same vein, Nassim Ben Khalifah who has being consistent in scoring for the team promised to score the decisive goals that would nail Nigerians ambition when both teams meet in Abuja.

He admitted that they have gone through many difficult games before reaching this final stage even as they were  not given the opportunity before the championship started, adding that they would be relying on the support back home to beat their opponents.

The Tunisian born Swiss player said  “We have all it takes to win the trophy at the expense of the host country. I know that it is going to be hard game for us as the eaglets will be relying as well as enjoying the full support of their fans that will definitely turn their back against us. But we shall be mindful of our approaches in the game.”
