He told newsmen at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt on Friday, shortly after his team beat Rising Stars of Akure, 2-0, that inadequate preparation affected his team this year.

“We did not really do well in the outgoing season, being the league defending champions, and this was as a result of inadequate preparation,’’ the club official said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the match was both clubs’ last league match of the season.

Eguma, however, said the club was relieved to have escaped relegation with the win over the Rising Stars, and promised a better outing in the 2012/2013 season.

He also praised his team for doing well in spite of some challenges.

NAN reports that Emem Edouk scored twice for Dolphins in the 23rd and 80th minutes of the match.(NAN
