National Women Leader of the party, Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani, said in a statement yesterday that by trooping out on March 28 to elect retired General Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerian women have demonstrated their commitment to democracy.
She said by their overwhelming support, they have further shown their preference for a president who would restore their pride of place as inalienable custodians of prosperous families and their values.
“Their vote is an affirmation of their firm resolve for a new order that will enrich the value of their lives as caring mothers and dependable wives. It is a solemn endorsement for greater attention to the girl-child and indeed the restoration of the self-worth of our women as the repository of enduring values necessary to build the new Nigeria we desire and deserve,” she said.
She urged women to remain steadfast and strong in their support for the incoming administration and expressed confidence that an APC-led federal government would pursue programmes aimed at making women to rediscover themselves for self-renewal and collective re-affirmation.
