National Chairman of the rulling All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, says the party has the capacity to unseat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 governorship election in Plateau State.

Prof. Nentawe also expressed confidence that the APC would sweep the presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Assembly polls in the next general elections.

Speaking on Saturday during a reception for defectors from the PDP, Labour Party (LP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) into the APC in Jos, he said the party’s growing support base has positioned it strongly for victory.

He said: “Today in Plateau, we have only one political party. If you are not in the APC, then you are not in any political party. I am proud to say we have enough power, enough firepower, enough engine oil, and enough engine to win the gubernatorial election.

“We have enough strength to win the central, southern, and northern zones and win convincingly. In 2027, President Tinubu, the APC governorship candidate, senators, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates under the APC will win all elections in Plateau State.”

Highlighting what he described as the party’s rising influence in the state and nationally, the APC National Chairman urged members of other political parties to join the ruling party “before it is too late.”

The event was attended by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, governors of Nasarawa and Benue states, deputy governors, and other senior party figures.

Prof. Nentawe received former senators, governorship aspirants, and serving members of the House of Representatives who defected from the PDP, LP, PRP, NNPP, and ADC.

Welcoming the decampees, he assured them of equal status within the party.

“On behalf of the National Working Committee and all members of the APC, I welcome all the defectors to our great party,” he said.
