The Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Alhaji Adamu Mustapha, has said that the council will soon commence the disbursement of scholarships to indigent students at various tertiary institutions in the council. 

Mustapha stated this when he received the newly elected executives of Agbari Student Youth Association (ASYA) Gwagwalada chapter in his office recently. 

He said all the processes of the scholarships have been completed, adding that the council was only waiting for cash backing to commence disbursement.

He said students in universities, polytechnics, monotechnics   and colleges of education would benefit from the scheme. 

The chairman commended the students for conducting their election peacefully, and urged them to remain law abiding in their endeavours. 

Earlier, the president of ASYA, Comrade Abbas Garba, said he led other executives of the association to express their appreciation to the chairman for giving priority to the education sector. 

He said the association was also aware of the effort the council in the area of the girl-child education across the 10 wards as well as provision of instructional materials to schools in the area.
