The Chief Executive Officer and Editor-In-Chief of Media Trust Ltd, publishers of Daily Trust newspapers, Malam Mannir Dan-Ali, has called for clear change in the way women and girls are valued and treated in Nigeria.
Speaking at the maiden edition of the International Women’s Summit and Exhibition organized by Daily Trust in conjunction with Octlan & Mayfun in Abuja yesterday, Dan-Ali said it was the only way to change the country for good since women constitute half of the population in any country in the world.
He described as apt, the United Nation’s theme for this year’s celebration, which is ‘Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality’, maintaining that it was an affirmation of the urgency with which humanity was expected to deal with issues of gender inequality.
He noted that apart from providing the platform for discussing women issues, Daily Trust had been in the forefront of the global advocacy for women’s rights through her editorial content and fair reportage of women issues.
