The chairman of Kuje Area Council, Alhaji Abdullahi D. Galadima, has called on residents of the council to join hands with his administration to ensure they rid all nooks and crannies of the council of dirt.
Speaking while flagging – off refuse evacuation in Kuje on Saturday, the chairman said there was need for residents to maintain good hygiene by keeping their environment clean in all metropolis of the council.
He said despite the challenges he met on ground, especially in the area of absence of lack of basic amenities that will better the lives of residents of the council, his administration was determined to ensure lives of the residents were improved.
He however said the flag -off of the evacuation of heaps of refuse at various designated places within the metropolis was to mark his administration’s 30 days in office.
“It is unfortunate that instead of us to inherit a symbol of good leadership, we came and inherited a bogus liability running into over a billion naira, but that will not stop us providing dividends of democracy to our people and also keeping our environment clean,” he said.
The chairman, therefore, warned residents against indiscriminate waste disposal, saying a task force will be put in place to ensure that violators or any person who intends to sabotage the exercise will be made to face the wrath of the law.
City News could recall that the FCT Minister, Mohammed Musa Bello had during the flag-off of sanitation exercise in the area late last year said the council was too dirty.
