We need power shift in Bauchi too

Hence, with the exception of Tatari Ali, all subsequent governors of Bauchi state are from Gombe zone (in former Bauchi state) and Bauchi south zones. The perpetual dominance of the political affairs of the state by Bauchi south zone is a reflection of the peaceful co-existence amongst the citizens of the state. This atmosphere of peace that hitherto prevailed in the state for long time is a valuable asset that cannot be allowed to rot away for selfish political reasons.
With the current trend of pasting campaign posters all over the state by contesting candidates, the majority of the Governorship candidates are from the other zones of the state, thus going by the humble expectation of every peace loving citizen of the state, the next democratically elected Governor of Bauchi state should come from either central or northern zone.
Agreed, democracy is a game of numbers, but a simple arrangement of “do me I do u” will go a long way in further cementing the good relationship and peaceful co-existence in the entire state. One of the major obstacles of adopting the power shift arrangement is the fear by some political stakeholders of loosing relevance and juicy political appointments if the political equation changes due to shift in power. These group of stakeholders normally use their “weapon of mass destruction”, which is money, to change the positive thinking of the electorates during nominations of candidates and general elections.
As the 2015 draws closer, the ball is now in the court of the electorates. They should not allow themselves to be manipulated or brainwashed by selfish politicians. They should do the right thing that will push our state and the country forward when the right time comes.
