The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police (CP), Miller G Dantawaye, has said that 62 robbery incidents that led to the arrest of 41 suspects have been recorded and 21 AK-47 rifles recovered since his assumption of office in October, 2025.
CP Miller, who made this known during a press briefing over the weekend, said a total of 300 cases were reported within the period under review, leading to the arrest of 160 suspects across various categories of crime.
He said seven kidnap incidents were also recorded, with 41 suspects arrested within and around the FCT through intelligence-led operations, forest combing exercises and joint operations with sister security agencies.
He also said 21 suspects were arrested in a case of “one chance” robbery incidents following sustained surveillance, stop-and-search operations and targeted raids.
He further said the command also recorded 35 cases of car theft and vehicle snatching, with the arrest of 11 suspects, noting that 20 stolen vehicles were recovered within and outside the FCT.
CP Miller said, “Arrests were also recorded in respect of homicide, cultism, fraud and drug -related violent offences, illegal possession of firearms, cyber-related fraud and other violent crimes, with 120 suspects apprehended across these categories.”
CP Miller further disclosed that the command successfully rescued 24 kidnapped victims comprising women and children from criminal hideouts and forests within and around the FCT.
He also disclosed that N15,450m, including other proceeds of kidnapping, armed robbery, fraud and other crimes, were recovered during the period under review, adding that nine armed suspects were neutralised during several high-risk operations following gun duels with the police.
He further said, “And it is with deep respect that the command also recorded six police officers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty during the period under review. Their sacrifices remain a solemn reminder of the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to the protection of lives and property.”
