We regret losing N/Assembly seats – El-Rufai

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State said he is proud of the contributions of the state to the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in last Saturday’s elections even though they lost many National Assembly seats in the state.

The governor said the party would address the setbacks of the February 25 presidential election by giving an emphatic victory to all the party’s candidates in the state on March 11.

Recall that the ruling party lost all the three senatorial seats to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The PDP also won 10 House of Representatives seats leaving the ruling APC with four.

In a congratulatory statement on Wednesday, El-Rufai said Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory at the presidential poll is a much-deserved triumph, reflecting the connections between dedicated effort and reward.

“In this titanic struggle, we sadly lost many of our National Assembly seats.  As regrettable as that is, APC members are still victors. We will campaign hard anew on our strong record of governance in the last eight years in which we have put our people first.

“On that day, our people would use the legitimate route democracy offers to redress the setbacks of 25 February by giving an emphatic victory to all APC candidates in Kaduna State,” he said.
