The chairman of Abaji area council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, has said his administration would explore avenues that will encourage the unemployed youths to embrace farming. 

Ajiya stated this yesterday at a sensitization exercise on the implementation of the Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme (AADS) organized by the FCTA agriculture and rural development secretariat in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). 

The chairman, while commending the FCT minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, for his effort in giving support to the scheme, assured that the council would ensure that the youth access the scheme.

The FCT secretary for agriculture and rural development secretariat, Stanley Ifeanyichukwu, represented by a director Musa Doma, had said the team were in the area as directed by the minister to sensitise residents on ensuring that the youth were part of the scheme.

He said the AADS scheme was a federal government special agricultural scheme under the CBN, which he said is expected to focus on youths in the 36 states and the FCT.

On his part, the Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, expressed delight over the scheme, even as he urged the managers to ensure they put all the necessary things on ground in order for it to succeed.
