This has made substantial impact on the lives of young and upcoming lawyers who have difficulty setting up their own chambers. The beneficiary lawyers say they only foot the maintenance and sanitation bills.
This gesture has supported young lawyers who have spent over seven years of professional training and rewarded the labour of their parents.
Olushola Bamijoko, a lawyer who has not heard of the Kanu Agabi facility says every serious practicing lawyer’s dream is to own a chamber. He added that the major challenge is finance and experience. Having practiced under another lawyer for three years, she believes she has garnered enough experience to set up her own firm.
 “If actually that is really on ground, it’s a very good development for upcoming lawyers, because having a free space to set up a chamber in a place like Abuja is not a joke, and I am really happy to hear it, and if the privilege is there, I will gladly want to benefit from it,” she said.
Mary Francis Ojie, a lawyer in Trinity House says the senior lawyer and benefactor is someone she is looking up to and would want to be like someday adding that “he is a rare gem who has touched so many lives.”
Austin Asogo, another young lawyer says though he is not a beneficiary, the facility would enhance legal ethics and practice.
According to John Ochogwu, who is a senior associate at Trinity House, the idea behind setting up an establishment such as this is to help people, especially young lawyers who have difficulties in setting up an office.
He also said God provides the fund while they do the charity. The free lunch, according to him, is a provision made by Agabi from his house every day.
“As a matter of fact, even lawyers outside Abuja are also allowed to partake in the lunch as some of them even have spaces here. And that is why it is called ‘Trinity House’; it is open to everybody,” he added.
It is believed that the gesture of Kanu Agabi should be emulated by other senior lawyers and other well-to-do members of the society, who have succeeded in their chosen professions. This will help reduce poverty and restiveness in the country.
Kanu Agabi was former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice from 1999-2000. He also held the post of Minister of Solid Minerals. He had in 1999 ran for governorship of Cross River State.
