Chairman, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Governing Board, Hajia Fatima Balla Abubakar, has promised that the board will address the erosion menace at the Anambra State Orientation Camp in Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area.
She gave the assurance on Thursday during the board members’ inspection of facilities at the state orientation camp.
Abubakar represented by one of the board members, Hajia Binta Ma’azu, said they would always ensure that camps are safe for corps members and staff.
According to her, the board is concerned over the challenges of the camp presented by the NYSC state coordinator, Mrs Yetunde Baberinwa.
She said the board would remedy the situation to avoid further decay of the edifice.
Abubakar also commended the state government for the massive infrastructure it built for the scheme in the state.
“We are impressed with the massive facilities at the camp, ” she said.
She also urged corps members to avoid any conduct capable of endangering their lives.
“Be obedient to the rules and regulations governing the camp. Don’t involve in any criminal act that will ruin your life and don’t travel out of the state without permission.
Please, do everything possible to avoid any act that will affect your life and health,” she said.
Speaking to Daily Trust, Baberinwa said erosion posed a serious threat to the camp. He added that the scheme had problems of staff accommodations and urged the board to look into the issues.
