The newly elected chairman of the board of Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON), Nweke U. Umezuruike has said the board will not spare the rod on any erring member of the profession.

He made the pledge at his maiden press conference. His predecessor, Mr. Yinka Sonaike died recently.

Umezuruike who was elected the 14th chair of the board on the 30th of January said: “We appeal to the entire Nigerian public to bring to the Board any infractions noticed among registered persons and watch the Board deal with such reports expeditiously.”

The number of Registered Estate Surveyors and Valuers as of today stands at 4450,  he said. 

Another group of 90, he said, was approved recently, “Every effort will continue to be made to clear all applications for registration,” he added.

The chairman said 19 Universities and 24 Polytechnies in Nigeria offering degrees and diplomas in Estate Management have been accredited.

“Approval was given by the Board for the extension of accreditation of seven universities,” he added.

Umezuruike explained that the core function of the Board sequel to the registration of persons was the enhancement and maintenance of sound and ethical professional standards in accordance with international best practices.
