Miringa has been neglected over a decade until the coming of Governor Shettima. Now we believe democracy is working because our youth are being empowered, especially through skill acquisition.
Let me mention a few of the good things I saw: renovation of administrative block, class rooms and staff quarters of the Government Girls Secondary School Miringa which give students and staff a conducive atmosphere of learning. There was also the provision of five boreholes – three at the school premises and two at the staff quarters to ease the suffering of the people.
I remember those days when the students used to go the same river where cattle herders take their cows to get water for bathing and cooking. The governor did not stop there, he provided them with a brand new bus for logistics and another borehole to the host community of the school called Bulama Koma village. In addition, he extended the gesture to Bubal Wada village with another borehole and three more boreholes to Miringa town.
There is also the beautiful palace for the District Head of Miringa, as well as five kilometre roads within Miringa town. Three mighty power transformers have been installed to motivate our youths who are engaged in small scale businesses. Furthermore, the governor has approved the 50 kilometers road linking Miringa to Gunda, Garubula, Gufka, Bumsa, Bara, Madlau and many more villages access roads which is about 80% completed. This is to reduce the suffering of the masses and to allow them easy movement of their farm produce being a community of predominantly farmers and businessmen.
Miringa people are happy and I was privileged to meet with one of my childhood friends Ali Ibrahim Yalibdi a.k.a Malam Ali who took me round on his motor bike to see things for myself. In fact we will remain ever grateful to Governor Shettima who has already written his name in a golden ink on a stone. Sir, your foot print in the life of Miringa people will never be washed away; we remain grateful indeed.
In conclusion, we pray Allah (S.W.A) to give you more strength, wisdom, courage and good health to serve the people of Borno State better as you have started by bringing government close to the people despite the security challenges in our dear state.
I also appeal on behalf of the Miringa people to seek your kind gesture to be extended to the Government Day Secondary School Miringa, we don’t have enough class rooms, no examinations hall and no even single laboratory or library, we pray Almighty Allah will give you the opportunity to look into it. Borno State is working, Shettima is working.
