We’ll resist attempt to postpone Jigawa LG poll — PDP

The Jigawa State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) said it would resist any attempt to postpone the LG elections in Jigawa State.

This was contained in a statement Sunday by the state chairman of the PDP, Hon Ali Diginsa.

The party said it would not allow the state House of Assembly to tamper with local government electoral laws to pave way for the appointment of caretaker committees in the 27 local government areas of the state.

The PDP said the APC is jittery and afraid of going into the election because they allegedly failed Jigawa people by throwing them into abject poverty and hunger.

“Jigawa people are eager to give APC its score card that is why the party and its leaders do not want the state local government election to take place,” the statement reads in part.

Effort to get the APC spokesman to comment on the matter was unsuccessful as his number was not reachable at press time.
