The Sokoto State chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bello Goronyo, has said the party would retain power in the state in 2023.
He also announced that the party had concluded arrangements to receive some members of the APC into its fold in the state.
In an interview with newsmen yesterday, Goronyo said the performance of the PDP-led government in the state would guarantee its chances of winning the next election.
The “opposition is jealous of our performance. They are not happy with our achievements because they didn’t expect us to perform the way we are performing.
“They are jittery because they know at the rate we are moving, 2023 will be a walkover by God’s grace,” he added.
“We are preparing to receive several of them (APC members) from Bodinga and other parts of the state. We want to make it a groundbreaking ceremony, that is the reason for the delay in receiving them,” he said.
He dismissed claims that PDP leaders were witch-hunting members of the opposition in the state.
