The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has stated that the federal government will save billions of naira used to purchase papers annually for communication.

Speaking during the official launch of the Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS) in the Ministry of Petroleum, he said the deployment will ensure efficiency that directly impacts revenue generation, investment confidence, and national planning.

”Honorable Minister, be sure that your 2026 budget will not have all that pile of money going to purchase paper. For a ministry that plays a strategic role in Nigeria’s economic stability and energy security, this milestone is both timely and significant. The Ministry of Petroleum Resources occupies a critical position in national development with responsibility for policy formulation, coordination, and oversight in the oil and gas sector,” she said.

She said with the deployment, the Ministry joins the institutions across the Federal Civil Service using the EMCS to secure records, clear audit trails, efficient workflows, and reliable institutional memory.

She added that with the 1Gov Cloud platform, the ECMS enables electronic approvals, automated workflows, and interoperability across government, shifting decision-making from the movement of files to timely access to accurate information.

“This means that there won’t be the need to bring documents to you to sign when you are not in Abuja. They will send it to you through the ECMS, you will approve it, and it will be returned to them, thereby saving government money and also saving time.”

On his part, the Minister of Petroleum Resources (oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, said the platform will help strengthen communication with agencies under the ministry who are not in Abuja.

He said it will also reduce fake documents and reduce the cost of transporting official documents.
