Indigenous stakeholders in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have declared that they will only support leaders who will prioritize their collective progress over personal gain.
Speaking during an expanded executive meeting on the “FCT Indigenous Stakeholders 2026 Strategic Plan” in Abuja on Thursday, the Executive Director of the Abuja Original Inhabitants Youth Empowerment Organisation, Comrade Isaac David, said the natives will focus solely on leaders who champion the cause of their emancipation.
He warned that natives would no longer be fooled by the pretenses or fake facades of leaders who exploit young people for selfish aims.
He emphasized that using the youth as a ladder to achieve political ambition is no longer acceptable.
“A person’s true character will always reveal itself, especially under pressure or public scrutiny. We won’t be fooled by pretenses or fake facades. If you have a history of bad character, address it and change it. Don’t expect sympathy or support from us if you’re not genuine,” David said.
He noted that it is time for the indigenous people to hold their leaders accountable and demand integrity.
“If you are a politician with questionable intentions, reconsider your actions, as the youth will no longer be silenced,” he added.
David urged indigenous youth to focus on local politics, describing it as a vital training ground.
He encouraged them to learn, grow, and build their skills before aiming for larger roles, noting that this foundation would help them avoid pitfalls such as corruption and bad governance.
Isaac also urged the youth to remain vigilant and stay informed so they can collectively build a better future for the FCT.
