The Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF), has reiterated its determination to ensure the correct demarcation of all the border lines within and around the country.

Surveyor-General of the Federation,  Ebisintei Awudu, stated this recently during the joint sensitization/enlightenment campaign of border communities of Itu/Odukpani local government areas of Akwa Ibom and Cross River States respectively, held at the bridge head linking the two communities.

According to him, the placement of pillars on ground to demarcate communities and states will enable governments at all levels to know their limits so as to plan adequately for their areas of jurisdiction.

He commended the Federal Government  for  flagging  off  the sensitization exercise, which is  the first of its kind in the South-South geopolitical zone. He assured that the Office on its part will provide all the technical logistics to ensure that the boundary pillars are placed without bias at the specific places soon.

Also speaking, the Director-General, National Boundary Commission (NBC), Dr. Mohammed Ahmad stated that the basic problems of most  nations in Africa are territory-associated.

Responding, the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Moses Ekpo and his Cross River State counterparts, Prof. Ivara Esu commended the Federal Government’s intervention aimed at finding a lasting solution to the land demarcation problem and pledged to ensure the maintenance of peace and order between the disputing communities.
