Were you disappointed that your team was disappointed by Esperance of Tunisia?

To be honest I was not happy that we lost to Esperance but I was not totally disappointed because my colleagues gave a good account of themselves. Everybody that watched the game spoke highly of Sunshine. Moreover, we had already qualified for the semi-finals so the boys took things easy. We have more important matches ahead. In addition, I know the coach went there to showcase some of the players who have not been playing. Maybe if we meet them again, in the final they will see a different Sunshine. I am not so disappointed.

You missed the game due to suspension. Do you think your presence in the match would have made any difference?

Like I said I want to thank God for everything that happened. Had it been the defeat came at the knock out stage, it would have been more painful. I did not play the match but like I said my team mates did their best. I am the captain of the club and there is no denying the fact that I wield some influence on the team’s performance in every match. I hope to be part of future matches to make my own contributions.

But it’s certain that you will be meeting either TP Mazembe or Al Ahly of Egypt, two formidable clubs on the continent. Do you think you have what it takes to beat any of the two clubs?

Sunshine is not afraid of any opponent. We are waiting for any of the two clubs. We respect them for their impressive record on the continent but that is not to say we are afraid of challenging them for the title. Having played against the defending champions, Esperance, we have garnered the necessary experience. As you are aware, Esperance are the defending champions. We have got the necessary experience now. We know how the big clubs think and play. We are not scared of Al Ahly or TP Mazembe.

Sunshine started the campaign on a wrong footing after the 0-2 loss at home to Esperance but things are now looking good for you. How did you guys overcome the initial set back?

It is a matter of commitment, dedication and togetherness in the team. When we lost 0-2 against Esperance, many people wrote us off but when I was interviewed, I said that it was not all over yet. I said it was just the beginning and we can still make progress. And by the special grace of God we are doing well in the competition. And the confidence I expressed has come to pass. Getting to this stage is not a surprise. Our aim is to try and get to the final and lift the trophy. We shall do our best to make sure that it comes true.

How motivated are the players of Sunshine Stars?

As a player, I don’t like to comment on things that have to do with welfare and management.  If a player is fit, it is enough motivation. Once there are no injuries we are motivated. In terms of payment, I leave that for the management to answer.

How much are you enjoying life in Sunshine?

I am enjoying myself playing for Sunshine. It is one of the best clubs in the country and I am not complaining.

How soon do you hope to start playing professional football abroad?

I am not in haste. God’s time is the best. Anytime God wants me to get a foreign club, I will go.
