Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman, has said the institute is training old and new staff to enhance their National Assembly support functions.
Prof Sulaiman spoke on Wednesday in Abuja, at the opening of a two-day leadership capacity building workshop for senior staff of NILDS.
He said the workshop was aimed at equipping the senior staff members with enhanced skills and knowledge to improve their support functions, streamline processes, and contribute to the overall mandate of NILDS.
He said the training was specifically on building professionalism, leadership and management skills in the public service; public sector ethics, governance and accountability; strategic thinking, planning and policy execution.
Other are, delegative leadership & team management in public service; emotional intelligence, performance management and appraisal skills; and team management and managing stakeholders amongst others
“This workshop therefore has been organised to enhance your skills and competencies in carrying out your responsibilities at NILDS as managerial staff. As you are all aware, NILDS plays a critical role in supporting Nigeria’s National Assembly through research, capacity building, and legislative support,” Prof. Sulaiman said.
In his welcome address, the NILDS Director of Administration and Human Resources, Aminu Bello Dukku, said the workshop was meticulously designed to fortify the capacities of participants in key areas that are central to the mission of NILDS.
