What is TY Danjuma upto?

Allow me a space in your reputable medium to publish my views on the recent remarks made by retired Lieutenant T Y Danjuma accusing the Nigerian military of siding with killer bandits and asking his people to protect themselves or die one by one.

I remember what Danjuma said some four years ago when he was asked to give his views on the letters written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to then President Goodluck Jonathan.

“The press has been after me. They want me to make a comment on what Obasanjo said about Mr. President [Goodluck Jonathan]. I told them that I have a complete and unimpeded access to Mr. President and if I have anything to say to him, I will do so face to face. These are very difficult times for our nations and we must be careful, especially we leaders of what we say in public,” he had said.

So the questions to ask now are: are we no longer in difficult times as a nation? Does Danjuma no longer have access to Mr. President? Is he no longer a leader? Should we use the same yardstick to measure his days as Minister of Defence? What exactly is he up to?

Interestingly, this is not the first time that Danjuma will be giving us reasons to doubt his credentials as a statesman. Last years, he was among a group that accused the present government of plotting Jihad in Nigeria, which earned him condemnation from quarters that should issue him with commendation. So, once again, what is TY Danjuma up to?
