Oshiomhole’s leadership style is somewhat autocratic. How can he use the same style he used as president of Nigeria Labour Congress to administer a political party with diverse interests? He threatened to sack a minister, just because he is a party chairman. That was a direct confrontation with the president himself, because it was the president that appointed ministers and supervises their activities. He did not even remember that Ngige is also a former governor like him. If he does that to other APC members who don’t like the party, they will just walk away.

Some National Assembly members defected from the APC, who knows if it is because of Oshiomhole’s manner of approach? He should calm down and run the party as a progressive and not an autocrat.

Oshiomhole is a man among men, a man of conviction, The APC should be commended for having the wisdom to have him lead the party at this critical time when his talents are most useful. So far, I think he has lived up to expectation, and the party and Nigerians are beginning to feel a leadership rebirth.

Oshiomhole and President Muhammadu Buhari should not be bothered about the defections at the National Assembly, because those people came to APC to win election. They were not members of the party. APC is very popular in the grassroots and I think with Oshiomhole’s style of leadership and the integrity of President Buhari, APC will win 2019 election more convincingly than they did in 2015. In Bayelsa State, leaders of the party, including Chief Timipre Sylva, have worked assiduously to make the party become a household name.

The National Chairman should continue with his leadership style, because that is what APC needs at this critical time, especially as we are preparing for the general election next year. He has the requisite pedigree to confront challenges, and take hard decisions. Besides, he can get things done properly. He is one man who has the character, intellect and strength to confront challenges and complement President Buhari’s good intentions and great vision to ensure we get dividends of democracy.

He has shown how a democratic leader should act. The peace and reconciliation move he has made so far attests to the fact that he will make an impact. Unfortunately, he came in a bit late as you can see the unfolding events in the National Assembly. We can only pray he contributes his little quota to the party.

It is difficult to judge Oshiomhole’s style of leadership or performance at the moment, because he has just spent a little over a month in office. As soon as he took the position, he took steps to visit all the aggrieved interests in the party, including that of some senators who defected. So, I think he has tried his best, and given more time, he will do better. In politics interest is paramount. Those senators who defected recently did not do so because of Oshiomhole or any other leader of the party. They defected because of their personal interest.

APC under Oshiomhole is no doubt experiencing a change from the old way of administering a party to the modern standard where party decisions are Supreme. Discipline and respect for the party constitution is seen to be gaining the desired attention. He came at a time the party is engulfed in crisis and total disrespect is exhibited by some members. He needs to deplore diplomatic means in handling issues with some highly placed party members or the end product may be disastrous.

For the first time the APC has a leader who knows politics in Nigeria. I think he will drive the party to greater heights. Political party leaders should learn from the exemplary leadership style he has shown so that we can play politics without bitterness.

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is a tested and trusted administrator who has carved a niche for himself in the temple of fame, as far as the political terrain in Nigeria is concerned. He has started well as chairman of the APC. His style of leadership is what the party has been yearning for over the years. Besides, he is a dogged fighter in all ramifications, right from his labour union days and his tenure as the governor of Edo State.

I see Oshiomohole’s chairmanship as the leadership that will secure APC victory in the 2019 general elections. He has proven himself in his first assignment which was the Ekiti governorship elections. He worked tirelessly to stop the defection of the senator and members of House of Representatives from APC to PDP, though he didn’t succeed. He also initiated that congress will henceforth be used in APC primaries, instead of delegates, as witnessed in Osun State APC governorship primaries. He is bringing party supremacy back. See how he is tackling the Minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige, to swear in board members of the National Social Insurance Trust Fund.
