The church is bracing up for this year’s Abuja Special Holy Ghost Service. Could you give details?
The theme of this year’s Abuja Special Holy Ghost Service is The Greatest Gift. The date is Nov. 14, 3014 and the venue is Redemption Camp, Km 23, Abuja-Keffi Expressway, Auta-Guru Village, Nasarawa State.
This is the 13th edition and it’s special in every respect. I believe that God has designed to make this one special considering the theme, the Greatest Gift. The greatest gift isn’t money; it’s not a house; it’s not any material thing. The greatest gift is a person and that Person is Jesus Christ. James 1:17 says every good and perfect gift comes from the father of light. John3:16 also declares that “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…”
The programme starts by 4:00pm until dawn. Our beloved Daddy, Pastor E. A. Adeboye (General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God) will minister. He has passion for souls and the only thing that gives him pleasure is to see sinners being translated from darkness to light.
However, every participant whether already in Christ or yet to be in Christ, will be prayed for specially. Special prayers will also be offered for our nation – Nigeria particularly because Abuja is the seat of power and the symbol of our unity. One of the special prayers is that the 2015 election will be smooth so that peace might reign in the country.

Nigerians look forward to opportunities like this to make their petitions to God. What have you for the afflicted?
The programme is designed for everybody—young and old, believers and non-believers. Sinners will be saved, the sick will be healed, the oppressed will be delivered, the captives will be set free, the barren made fruitful and the sorrowful will become joyful because that’s what Jesus represents—joy. The Prince of Peace and the Author of peace will restore peace in every home.

Many Nigerians are in trouble and they ascribe their afflictions to fellow beings especially folks in their villages. Why?
Until you’re able to recognize the source of your problem, you’ll not be able to get the solution. We have only one enemy. That enemy is Satan. The bible says in John chapter 10 verse 10, the thief cometh not but for to steal, to kill and to destroy. Satan is our principal enemy and he represents darkness and anything evil.
The solution to any affliction is salvation through Jesus Christ, the Greatest Gift from God the Father to the whole world. We believe God is going to relocate many people from darkness to light during this program. Light is beautiful. Light brings progress. Light is impactful. There will be light in every area of our lives after this service. When I gave my life to Christ some years God set me free from affliction. That same God is set to deliver His people from the power of darkness.

Election time has come with a lot of worries. Some say Christians should stay away from the elections because of the concerns.
We’re Christians but we’re still in this world. We should not blame anybody for what happens in our environment, if we fold our hands. Rather than stay away, we are enjoined to pray and also perform our civic responsibility by voting for the candidates of our choice.
We have members in different political parties and those who have been called into politics are encouraged to participate effectively but they must show that they are agents of light. Incidentally we thank God that we have a father and a leader in RCCG who is interested in the peace and progress of Nigeria. He led to pray for peaceful elections in 2011 and he said God told him that “All will be well.” And by His grace, all was well. We believe that all will be well.
Apart from our Daddy in the Lord we have other spiritual leaders who are praying for this nation and there will be no cause for alarm.

RCCG has expanded tremendously. Looking at the years and seeing the effort the mission has made, what would you say?
By the grace of God, we’re expanding. Let me say there’s explosion. But by the grace of God we have not yet reached our goal. The road to success is always under construction. Our goal is to take the gospel to the ends of the world because the whole world is our parish. Our goal by the grace of God is to have at least a member of RCCG in every family in the whole world.

Christians are hounded in some parts of this country. Has this not affected your mission?
During the time of the early apostles, God used persecution as a tool to scatter them so that the gospel could spread to other places. It was that persecution that God used to take them to many places. Persecution cannot stop the spread of the gospel rather it will enhance it. Tough times as somebody said never last but tough people do. No force can stop God’s work. By His grace I have found myself in a place that was hostile to the gospel for three years but God’s work didn’t stop.
