When art masters met in Abuja

At the exhibition tagged ‘Beyond imagination’ oil on canvas works and paintings of veteran artists and sculptors  such as Ben Enwonwu, Ben Osawe, Bisi Fakeye, Bruce Onobrakpeya, David Dale, Erhabo Emokpe, Jimoh Buraimoh, Kolade Osinowo, Muraina Oyelami, Okpu Eze, Rufus Ogundele and Twins Seven Seven were unveiled for the visiting public.

The management of Thought Pyramid said the exhibition, one in a series was done in order to celebrate these artists and also allow interested members of the public including arts enthusiasts to purchase some of the works that interest them.

Special guests at the event were Professor Segun Adewoye, director general of NASENI and Didi Ndiomu, chairman/CEO, Quinn McGratt. According to Jeff Ajueshi, helmsman of the gallery, the event was put together in order to aid the increasing artistic aspirations of the nation adding that its benefit are immense. ‘Visualising an object or a situation and repeating this mental image attracts the object or situation into our lives. This opens for us new, vast and fascination opportunities,’ he noted.

Uwo Usen, President of Nigerian Artists while commending the initiative, urged the public to make use of the benefits of the works of the veterans being displayed. “Today as we witness this exhibition, these masters have shown their works as evidence of their achievements and this knowledge will transcend to the younger and upcoming artist. Nigeria is witnessing a cultural renaissance…”

Mudiare Onobrakpeya, one of the artists enthused enthusiastically that, “as a collective the works of these masters though varied in influence and technique and place of execution all speak of the inalienability and the eternal permanence of a  Nigerian artistic experience, perspective and contribution to the global art of the world today.”
