The event which is the second in the Hilton’s series of giving guests value for their travel, featured Indian music and movies topping the Bollywood entertainment chat manned by a Nigerian DJ.

According to the hotel’s public relations officer, Mr. Shola Adeyemo, “this is a series of events we plan to have at least six times yearly. We started in July with the French night and have made it absolutely free even for the Indian on the street.”

“There is need to give people value for their trips and this is one way we are doing it,”  Adeyemo said, adding that in the future there are plans to make Bollywood stars part of the show.

“With the Indian population being one of the largest in Abuja, we taught it necessary to create a forum where they interact with other nationals outside their own organized events,” said Vikram Jamval, Hilton’s Director of Business Development.

Jamval said that the next edition will be an all themed Indian affair including costumes and art and will include programmes for children.

Sponsor of the event, Mr. Jitender Sachdeva, said although Bollywood is behind Nollywood by UNESCO standards, Nollywood still has a lot of organizing to do. “This way it will make more progress than it has at the moment,” he said.
