When Lagos super car fans went ‘wow’!

The Automobile and Bike show, scheduled to hold at the main bowl of the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos, will feature on April 2 and 3, 2016.
According to the promoter of the show, Mr. Dapo Otunla, the founder of Grills2Grills, the intention is to hold the auto show annually with the hope that the platform will become a landmark event that will bring car enthusiasts from across the globe to Lagos.
Otunla said the two-day event will showcase up-close, an assembly of about 70 cars and 20 motorbikes that are rare and unique, and will give guests close access to their dream vehicles in a way they may not have experienced before.
A unique car that will be showcased at the event is the Volkswagen Beetle tagged “The Bug”, a two-door, four-passenger, rear-engine economy car manufactured and marketed by the German auto maker, Volkswagen, from 1938 until 2003.
The need for this kind of car and its functional objectives, Otunla explained, were formulated by a Jewish engineer who had his original idea ‘stolen’ by Adolf Hitler after seeing the car at an auto show.
Another unique car that will be exhibited at the Grills2Grills auto show is the MG Midget, a small two-seater sports car that was produced by MG from 1961 to 1979.
Others are the Lamborghini Murcielago, a sports car produced by Italian automaker Lamborghini; the Mercedes 220 SE Coupe Convertible of 1965 and the Lotus Elise, a two-seat, rear-wheel, mid-engine roadster conceived in early 1994 and released in September 1996 by the British manufacturer. “This car has a hand-finished, fibre-glass body shell atop its bonded extruded aluminium chassis that provides a rigid platform for the suspension,” Otunla noted.
