Last weekend, Saturday 12th May, Mode Magazine, Nigeria’s foremost and longest-running publication for men, celebrated its 12th anniversary by hosting it’s annual ‘Black Night’ event. Traditionally held in Lagos, this year’s was brought to Abuja because Publisher/Editor-in-Chief Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa felt his magazine had a lot of readers in the capital city, who were missing out.

“Lagos has been having all the fun, so we decided to democratize things a bit,” Tafawa-Balewa told Daily Trust.

Tafawa-Balewa, while unveiling the magazine, stressed the importance of enabling young Nigerians to make an impact in whichever fields they are.

The ‘Black Night’ event, dubbed so because guests had to dress in all-black, also saw the unveiling of the newest edition of Mode Magazine, which had on its cover the duo of Mohammed Mijindadi (MD of GE Gas), and Ifeanyi Orajaka (CEO of GVE).

The event, complete with red carpet photography at the entrance, was held at Quo Lounge, in Maitama. It had in attendance major players in business, entertainment, fashion, and other fields. There were light snacks, as well as cocktails served by Impackt Catering.

Guests had the chance to win prizes, including some from Bang & Olufsen, Shankstar.com, and more.
