Some people wait until their vehicle parks up before they address a major problem. Musa Suleiman, a mechanic specialized in working Japanese brands in Utako explains that this is risky and could lead to a fatal accident, particularly if it has to do with the shaft. He proffers this advice: “For instance, when you hear an odd breaking noise every time you turn, then you know your shaft has a problem and you would need to change it,” he says, adding that it is usually clear when it’s the shaft because the noise would be peculiar, not like when it’s any other tire-area-related problem.
In a situation where the shaft has a problem that has not been addressed and it comes off while one is driving, he advises that: “make sure you don’t apply the break, but instead, maneuver the wheel until you can park safely. An experienced driver does this so the car does not summersault in the event the break is applied. In some cases, drivers apply the breaks out of fear.
