Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, has called on women in leadership to step forward with confidence, resilience, and unity, saying that their involvement is not only important but essential for national growth and democratic development.

Speaking at the Capacity Building Workshop for Elected Female Officials held on Monday, Balarabe declared, “Your voice is not just needed it is necessary. Your perspective is not just valuable it is vital. Your leadership is not just welcome it is wanted.”

The workshop, organized by the Kaduna State House of Assembly through the Office of the Majority Leader, brought together female councillors, political appointees, and lawmakers to discuss inclusive governance and leadership transformation.

Drawing attention to the challenges women face in Northern Nigeria, the Deputy Governor said, “The glass ceiling here is reinforced by layers of tradition, religious misinterpretation, and deep-seated stereotypes. They said a woman should not speak. We answered: Listen closely. They said a woman must not govern. We responded: Behold our works.”

She emphasized the transformative impact of female leadership across communities, noting, “Evidence abounds showing that when women lead, communities prosper. When women govern, nations grow. When women decide, development accelerates.”

In a passionate appeal, Dr. Balarabe urged female leaders to rise above societal bias and prove their worth through excellence. “Every time someone questions your qualification because of your gender you study harder. Every time someone dismisses your voice you speak with greater clarity. These challenges do not weaken us they arm us with resilience.”

Reiterating government support, she added, “Governor Uba Sani and I are unequivocally committed to an inclusive governance structure that recognizes and rewards female talent. My door is open. My counsel is available. My advocacy is assured.”

Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Dahiru Liman, also lent his voice in support, commending the first female Majority Leader, Munira Suleiman Tanimu, for initiating the workshop.

“This empowerment is for the unity, awareness, and encouragement of women in politics and positions publicly,” Liman said. “Whenever you find a good woman in office, she will do better than even we men. Politics is not dirty; it’s a platform for service.”

Majority Leader Munira Tanimu stressed the need for solidarity and continuous growth among women leaders. “When women support women, mountains move,” she said.

“Leadership is not about personal advancement it’s about amplifying the voices of those we serve.”

The workshop concluded with a renewed call for women to lead with courage and unity. As Dr. Balarabe urged, “Be so good they cannot ignore you. So resilient they cannot discourage you. So visionary they cannot limit you.”
