Birnin Gwari, located in Kaduna West, is one of the 23 local government areas of the state. It was established in 1976 alongside Ikara, Funtua, Malumfashi, Daura, Katsina, Zaria, Lere and Kachia. But who bothers about establishing schools in Birnin Gwari when people cannot sleep.
Most important is security of lives, then property. Nobody is concerned about Birnin Gwari being represented in the state government. It is about establishing graveyards and buying coffins. Who is concerned about going to farm or market? Nobody bothers about recruitment in the civil service.
The only feeling of the existence of Kaduna State Government in Birnin Gwari is the water board built during military regime. It has not been sustained by subsequent governments. Who also bothers to listen to the lies of politicians on the rehabilitation of the Birnin Gwari dam? Only outsiders.
