On hand in Taraba to assert that the stoning of President Jonathan was carried out by the PDP youths, was the PDP spokesperson in the State, Napoleon Adamu. He inferred that the youths who also attacked the PDP State Secretariat in Jalingo were angry because the party hierarchy did not take them into consideration during the planning of the presidential rally. Their annoyance may be justified but that should not be considered enough to stone their own presidential candidate; but they did! Earlier in Katsina, the same stoning episode against Jonathan was noticed. Up till this time, Katsina governor, Ibrahim Shema, appeared to be unaware that the stoning was the handiwork of some aggrieved PDP members. But the Niger Delta ex-militants were quick to jump to conclusion that all the stoning incidents were by the opposition. Not even the confessions of the Buachi State governor and the
Spokesperson of the PDP in Taraba could assuage them. What a shame! They insisted that they must retaliate and they are being supported by the Bayelsa State governor, Dickson Seriake, who called them to a meeting to agree that not only would there be retaliation but should Jonathan fail to win the February 14 presidential election, the country will be on fire? In any disciplined country, this is treasonable. All the three states, namely Katsina, Bauchi and Taraba, are PDP-controlled; what a sign to prove that probably most of the PDP states’ congresses and primaries produced great enmity within. Now in an APC-controlled state of Lagos, a report credited to PDP stalwart Musliu Obanikoro claimed that Buhari was stoned as he was there for the APC presidential campaign on Friday January 30, 2015. Could this be the retaliation the Niger Delta ex-militants and Governor Dickson Seriake contemplated, knowing full well that Buhari has no business again campaigning in the south-south and south-east, having done so earlier? Could this be expression by some aggrieved APC members?
Whichever it was, this kind of desperation amongst our politicians would lead us nowhere good. Can some people be called to order before the country burns? We have the Boko Haram that continues its expansionist tendencies within Nigerian territory.
Instead of directing our energy in fighting Boko Haram, our political class in attempt to outwit one another, are here disturbing the remaining peace-loving Nigerians.  Chibok girls have been in Boko Haram captivity now for 294 days! What an irony and a disturbing situation; yet at almost every campaign rally we hear the president say that the girls would be rescued and that Boko Haram would soon be eliminated. But behold we are seeing the insurgents expanding, territorially.
